Chuck Merlis has worked as a freelance journalist and communications professional in Tampa, Florida, since graduating from The University of Tampa with a B.A. in Journalism in May 2024. 

Merlis currently serves as a Communications Assistant for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is a freelance journalist, having recently published articles in Creative Loafing Tampa Bay.

Merlis also worked throughout college, serving as Editor-in-Chief of The Minaret (UT's school newspaper), where he was awarded the John Capouya Journalist of the Year award in the Spring of 2024. He also served as a Digital News Intern for WFLA News Channel 8 in Tampa Bay and a Public Relations Intern for BoardroomPR in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
